Description
Illinois is know for City of Chicago and its vast flat fields of corn and soy beans, but at the southern end of Illinois is the unique beauty of many natural areas including Shawnee National Forest, Cache River Basin and Giant City State Park. The geology of these areas was formed millions of years ago by ancient inland seas. They left behind fascinating rock formations and a natural beauty that matches any place in the world. In this image we see Heron Pond Bog with cypress trees in their autumnal color.
