Description
This immature red-tailed hawk landed on an aspen tree branch just outside my window in northern Illinois and perched hoping for a tasty meal of chipmunk or small bird. I grabbed my camera, which I keep at the ready for such events, and instead of looking for a meal it watched me intently as I shot away. Every now and then it would change positions or preen, but always checking back to see what I was doing. I think it just wanted me to see all of its beauty. It felt much like a model shoot. After about ten minutes and a hundred or so shots it realized there were no tasty morsels here and flew away to the woods across the street.
