Description
This mute swan, cygnus olor, and its partner were preening themselves on the opposite shore of a pond in Northern Illinois when I approached. After quite a while and quite a few photographs, he entered the water and swam to within a few feet of me as if to say, "I'm ready for my close up..." resulting in this shot. (Pardon my anthropomorphizing)
