Description
On this cold February day in Northern Illinois I was watching a group of golden eyes float down river toward a dam. Each time they got close to the dam they would take off in flight. Golden eyes are only in this area for a couple of the coldest months of the year. They fly very fast and a whirring sound emanates from the flapping of their wings.
