Description
Elgin, Illinois is a river town established in the 1830s, located about 35 miles northwest of Chicago on the Fox River. Originally, it was known for all of the nearby dairies, and then for the home of the Elgin National Watch Company. Today it provides a special quality of life for its diverse residents with a beautiful riverfront, parks, museums, entertainment and dining venues. It is an urban setting in what still remains a largely a rural area with abundant wildlife and natural beauty. This image of Walton Island just after sunset captures the feel of life in Elgin.
